ALDI MiniRoos on the World Stage Gala Day

In June, over 600 children came together at the Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility (LMRFF) to take part in an ALDI MiniRoos Gala Day in celebration of the Caltex Socceroos taking on the world.

With 87 teams participating across the fun-filled day, ages ranged from U/6s up to U/11s with both mixed and Girls Only ALDI MiniRoos teams.

The Gala Day gave the aspiring young footballers a chance to play further game time as well as being able to socialise with other players and teams. Northern NSW Football MiniRoos Development Officer, Steph Palmer, was thrilled with the turn out of the day and hoped players and parents involved enjoyed their day as well.

“The day was a great turn out and it was a great experience for those who don’t play in the local area to experience playing on the Football Fives fields, it was something different for them and I think they really enjoyed it,” Palmer said.

“The Gala Day also allowed for clubs across NNSWF to play football against teams from different zones.

“We had teams from all around the zones, with the furthest teams coming from Cundletown, which was great to see!”

On the day, teams were encouraged to dress up as their favourite Caltex Socceroos to show support during the World Cup with the best dressed taking home a prize.

With a lot of teams participating, it was a tough decision, however, the winner of best dressed was Team Cahill from Kurri Kurri U/7s.

The next upcoming event to be held at the LMRFF will be the Football Fives Holidays Skills Challenge for children between the ages of U/8s and U/11s on the 16th July. For more information on the clinic please visit the Football Fives website here.
