As 2016 comes to an end, it is encouraging to see clubs across Northern NSW benefit from funding available under the Community Building Partnerships (CBP) Grants Program and equip themselves more effectively for a bigger year in 2017.

Record numbers of registered players across Northern NSW in 2016 attest to the recent announcement by the Australian Sports Commission of football’s rightful place as Australia’s largest community team sport.

Over $430,000 was distributed to Northern NSW Football Member Clubs during 2016 for facility enhancements, making almost $1 Million in total funding to the region in the past two years, after over half a million dollars of funding was awarded in 2015.

‘A total of $430,779 has been secured which will be of great benefit to our sport in NNSW,’ Community Football Manager Peter Haynes said.

‘This is in addition to a total of $555,499 awarded in 2015, so I am pleased with the result and the opportunities it provides to our clubs to continue the growth of the game.’

‘The next step is to identify which clubs we are able to work with to potentially bundle planned projects together, using the CBP funding as effectively as possible to ensure we provide a better football experience and allow more players to play more football more often,’ Haynes concluded.

Northern NSW Football will continue to work with our Member Clubs and Zones to improve their relationships with local Members of Parliament to ensure that Football remains ‘top of mind’ for local funding initiatives and that the strong demand by communities across the region is met by improved facilities and the delivery of more opportunities to play the game.
