It was a warm spring morning that saw Glen Innes setting up for the Gala and Presentation Day. Glen Innes partnered up with Ronald McDonald House and saw proceeds of the day go to help families in need– a great cause indeed! There was even an appearance by Ronald McDonald who helped on the coloured hairspray tent, handing out awards and I think he even had a crack at the MiniRoos shooting target.
The day was filled with laughs and fun for the kids with a round robin style Gala Day set up, the MiniRoos inflatable target (with prizes!) and ending with the ever classic Kids v Parents soccer match. The competition was fierce but I think the kids edged out ahead! Overall, an incredibly successful day for GIDFA and congratulations on a wonderful season!
After a fantastic day at Glen Innes, Sunday morning I made the short trip to Guyra to sit down with Junior Convenor Jo Dullaway to chat about the season gone and the one coming. Jo told me many stories about the achievements of Guyra Soccer Club including raising many of thousands of dollars for local families that needed some extra support. We discussed all the places that Guyra wants to move towards in 2020 and how we can achieve that working together. After a trip to the grounds to discuss facilities I travelled back to Newcastle with plenty of news to share.
Huge thank you to Preston Parkes from Glen Innes and Jo Dullaway from Guyra for your time over the weekend and I look forward to being back in NIF soon!
