The fight for the Westfield FFA Cup got underway on the weekend on the Far North Coast with Bangalow hosting the first game on Friday night against their rivals Lennox Head.
Bangalows Daniel Crisante was the first who put the team on the score board scoring in only the eighth minute of the game.
A penalty against Bangalow gave Lennox Head a chance at the score board but they unfortunately couldn’t get passed the Blue Dogs strong defence.
After half time, Bangalow remained in front and coming in strong with Byron Milne sliding in passed Grayson Green lengthening the gap 2-0.
Aaron Grey took advantage of a wide gap in front of goal getting Lennox back in the game making the score 2-1.
However the blue dogs proved to be too strong in the end against their rivals, securing two goals, one by Rory Devlin in the 65th minute and the other by Luke Wakefield minutes before full time ending the game on a 4-1 victory.
Also at Bangalow on Jeff Schneider Field later in the evening, Suffolk Park FC secured the win with a tight 2-1 defeat to the home team, Ballina SC.
Meanwhile on the Mid North Coast, Tuncurry Foster FC secured a 4-1 win against Taree Wildcats at Tuncurry Sports Complex on Saturday 13th February.
However the biggest win of Round 1 goes to Great Lakes United FC finishing on a 5-1 victory against Port Macquarie FC at Tuncurry Sports Complex.
