Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) has now opened nominations for teams to participate in the inaugural Women’s State Cup Competition in 2017 held over the weekend of the 16th and 17th September at the Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility in Speers Point.
Senior Women’s teams across Northern NSW will have the opportunity to play against senior teams from other Zones and from within the Herald Women’s Premier League competition for the first time in a sanctioned competition.
With over 12 Senior Women’s teams interested in the tournament including Westlawn Tigers FC from Grafton, being the furthest club away so far interested, NNSWF Female Participant Officer, Nyssa Suchanow is happy with the amount of interest received and is in hope for more.
“Establishing a State Cup for Women in Northern NSW is an integral part of providing more opportunities for women within Football,” Suchanow said.
“Expressions of Interest were sent out to clubs in February and the response so far has been great with 12 clubs interested in participating.”
“In 2017 we hope that 16 or more clubs will participate in the cup, and we hope to build on that year after year.”
The establishment of the Women’s State Cup was a strategic initiative for Northern NSW Football in the 2016-2019 Strategic Plan which outlines Northern NSW Football’s aim to be a leading organisation for females.
Clubs are requested to apply via the online nomination form by no later than 5 pm Wednesday 31st May 2017 confirming their intent to participate in the tournament.
