2019 NPL Northern NSW set to conclude in epic final matchday format

July 15th, 2019

The 2019 National Premier Leagues Northern NSW (NPL NNSW) has proven to be one of the tightest in history and is set to finish in a fitting fashion after Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) today announced that all five fixtures in the final round, Round 22, will now take place at the same time with first grade scheduled to kick-off at 2:30pm on Sunday 25 August.

With the regular-season approaching its end, circumstances look likely that the races for the premiership, top four and wooden spoon are all set to go down to the wire and the decision was made to reschedule the fixture times to create a fair and even finish to the season while also maximising excitement and viewership across all grades on the final matchday.

In conjunction with BarTV Sports, a special final matchday broadcast will be tailored to encapsulate the exhilaration experienced right across all five venues which will include live-crosses and replays from right across corresponding grounds as well as the presentation of the first grade premiership trophy will be ready to be awarded to the winning side on the day following their match.

NNSWF Football Operations Manager Liam Bentley was thrilled that clubs were open to rescheduling their games in order to create a more traditional final matchday.

“It’s fantastic that fans, players and clubs can all now experience what should be a gripping last round football in a similar format to what is done overseas in leagues like the Premier League,” Bentley said.

“We’re thankful that the clubs originally scheduled to play on Saturday were willing and on board to change their fixture to accommodate this and are also excited to hear that BarTV Sports are also keen to turn their broadcast into a special occasion for fans watching at home or whilst at other venues.

“I encourage all local football fans to get behind this concept and either interact and get involved over BarTV Sports’ live streams or by attending a match live.
