Keeping up with the MiniRoos

#25: The goals rain down at MJ Stadium in the F3 Derby – Abermain Rams and Rutherford FC

February 14th, 2020

We have certainly faced some tricky conditions in recent weeks at the Jets home games and on Sunday 9th February it was no different, with the Jets and Mariners doing battle in a very wet F3 Derby at McDonald Jones Stadium.

Two exceptionally brave groups of MiniRoos answered the call on derby day, with Abermain Rams SC and Rutherford FC coming along for what would turn out to be a very memorable day at the football. First up was mascot duty, where both teams would get to walk out onto the pitch with the teams at kick-off.

This week there was an even bigger responsibility for our young MiniRoos stars, as they teamed up with their A-League counterparts in celebration of “PlayFootball” round, holding up a giant banner and encouraging everyone to get signed up for the 2020 club season.

The players then dashed off with their teammates and families to watch an exciting first half, with the Jets leading 2-1 at the break. It was then time for our MiniRoos to take the field and just like the main game, the goal scoring and quality football was flowing!

Plenty of fun was had and it certainly didn’t stop at half time, as the Jets saw off their old rivals in a 4-3 thriller!

A big thank you to Debbie Evans (Abermain) and Brett Nutland (Rutherford) for getting everyone organised and braving the rain with the kids!
