ALDI MiniRoos Kick Off for Girls Launched Across Northern NSW

October 27th, 2017

October 2017 saw the start of Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) ALDI MiniRoos Kick Off for Girls only programs take off throughout Northern NSW.

There has been over 300 girls registered at 12 centres across the region, the program again reaffirms the growth in female participation within NNSW.

With 120 of those registrations coming from regional areas playing in the programs, NNSWF ALDI MiniRoos Development Officer Tom Oldaker believes the numbers have increased from the recent success of the Westfield Matildas.

“The Matildas have created a lot of excitement within female football, their professionalism and success, I believe, is a major factor of the popularity of the ALDI MiniRoos Kick Off for Girls only programs,” Oldaker said.

The program is an introductory program that teaches fundamental football skills in a fun, engaging and inclusive environment.

“Playing in a girls-only environment allows the players to enjoy the game of football while making new friends which ultimately leads the girls to grow in confidence,” Oldaker said.

Feedback from the centres so far has been fantastic with one parent saying “there are lots of smiley happy little girls who are absolutely loving it!”.

The 10-week program is now heading into its 4th week with spaces still available at most centres.
