Another Emerging Jet takes off to the Centre of Excellence

Northern NSW Football would like to congratulate 16-year-old goalkeeper, Lachlan Watson, who has been given an extension on his scholarship with the FFA Centre of Excellence.

Lachlan received the scholarship in November which was meant to go through only to December but has now been extended to the end of January.

The FFA Centre of Excellence is a key element of the Football Federation of Australia’s (FFA) elite development pathway and endeavours to provide the best of Australia’s youth in this age group with the best possible domestic and international competition opportunities.

Lachlan has been within the Emerging Jets Program for 3 years and has shown some promising signs according to Emerging Jets Academy Director Gary van Egmond who credits the contribution made by Emerging Jets Goalkeeper coach, Chris Bowling, in Lachlan’s success.

“Lachlan always worked hard at his game and a lot of credit for his development and selection must go to Chris Bowling,” van Egmond said.

“With his work ethic, it is great to see that he has achieved a scholarship with the Centre of Excellence.”

“We look forward to monitoring Lachlan’s development in Canberra and wish him all the very best,’ van Egmond concluded.

For his personal goals into 2017, Lachlan will be pushing for a spot in the Newcastle Jets Youth team.
