The 2018 and 40th Anniversary edition of the Bill Turner Cup (boys) and the Bill Turner Trophy (girls) competition will wrap-up today, Wednesday 5th September, at the Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility following a full day of elimination football yesterday.
The Bill Turner Cup and Bill Turner Trophy are school football competitions where around 800 school teams from NSW, QLD, ACT and Victoria participate each year, with all players 15 years and under. The competition is a knockout format with early round matches starting in Term 1.
Toowoomba Grammar School will be facing off with Westfields Sports High School in the Bill Turner Cup Final who also feature in the Bill Turner Trophy Final against Holy Spirit Bellambi.
In the Bill Turner Cup, Towoomba Grammar managed to defeat Bossley Park High 2-0, while Newcastle High School were beaten by Westfields Sports High 3-0 and in the Bill Turner Trophy, Holy Spirit Bellambi defeated Kelvin Grove 2-1 in Golden Goal extra time, and Westfields Sports High progressed after a penalty shootout win against Hunter Sports High.
The losing Semi Finalists will compete in a 3rd place playoff today as curtain-raisers to competition’s finals.
