Boambee Bombers progress to State Qualifiers with high-scoring win

May 3rd, 2019

The first match of the Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) FFA Cup Regional Qualifiers, Round 5 of the Northern Conference, saw Boambee pull off a thrilling 5-3 victory over North Coast Football rivals Coffs City United at C.ex Coffs International Stadium.

Brady Parker got the ball rolling for the Bombers with a goal in the first five minutes, before Gum Mayak got one back for the Lions not long after in the 21st minute.

Luke France scored his fifth of the tournament so far in the 34th minute to regain the lead, and Parker once again found himself on the scoresheet with a goal just before half-time, giving Boambee a two-goal buffer heading into the break.

Needing to score first in the new half, Coffs City began in poor fashion as Boambee’s Lachlan Moye scored in the 54th minute and in the 64th minute, Parker completed his impressive hat-trick to take full control of the game with a four-goal lead.

Two late consolation goals for the Lions courtesy of Nick Mallet in the 73rd minute, and Lorenzo Rigoni in the 82nd minute, came towards the end of the match and weren’t enough to spur their side into a late comeback as the Bombers moved onto Round 6.

For his tremendous goal-scoring efforts, Parker was selected as the TAFE NSW ‘Game Changer’ – Player of the Match of which he received a $50 rebel Sport voucher, TAFE NSW Summer Football drink bottle and ball, proudly supported by NNSWF’s Major Partner in Education Training, TAFE NSW.

Boambee will now join either Kempsey Saints, or Bangalow Bluedogs in Round 6, the State Qualifiers, at Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility along with the six remaining Southern Conference teams on the June long weekend, 8th-10th.

Their progression marks the second consecutive year that Boambee have progressed to Round 6.
