Coffs Harbour Hosts Northern NSW’s Finest Footballers at Telstra State Championships

Over 250 of Northern NSW’s best young male footballers will flock to Coffs Harbour across the June long weekend for the annual Telstra State Championships for Boys.

Each of NNSWF’s Member Zones; Football Far North Coast, Football Mid North Coast, Hunter Valley Football, Macquarie Football, Newcastle Football, North Coast Football and Northern Inland Football will contest the Championships

In addition, an Emerging Jets Under 10 Boys squad will be competing in the Under 11 division, while an Emerging Jets Under 11 Boys team will participate in the Under 12 division.

The Telstra State Championships for Boys are the first of NNSWF’s major tournaments to be conducted at Coffs Harbour International Stadium this year.

NNSWF will also host Westfield National Youth Championships for Girls in July and the FFA National Youth Championships for Boys in October the Telstra State Championships for Girls in September.

“Northern NSW Football is proud to host the Telstra State Championships for Boys which will showcase the best young male footballers from around Northern NSW who are fortunate to be competing at such a fine facility in Coffs Harbour,” said NNSWF Chief Executive Officer, David Eland.

“The weekend will provide Northern NSW’s talented male footballers the opportunity to test themselves against fellow players from across the region.”

“The Championships are a critical tool used to gauge talent from within our Member Zones and provide a valuable opportunity for our Technical Panel to identify talented young players who possess the ability to progress to the next level in their playing career,” he concluded.

The first matches commence at 8.30am on Saturday, with both 11 and 12 Years Boys matches played simultaneously on two separate fields – Field 1 hosting 11 Years Boys and Field 2 hosting 12 Years Boys.

The presentation of Medallions will take place at 2pm on Monday.
