Community Coaches Travel to Coffs Habour

February 1st, 2017

The Coffs Harbour football community was left buzzing after the double header between Newcastle Jets and Melbourne City at C.ex International Stadium on Friday night that saw 7,891 fans in attendance.
Newcastle Jets Westfield W-League Head Coach, Craig Deans, and W-League Goalkeeper Coach, Chris Bowling, were on hand to deliver a coaching workshop for local coaches on Saturday morning before departing back to Newcastle.
The W-League coaches were able to offer tactical insight and analysis of their match against Melbourne City, as well as help coaches design a football session in which the North Coast Football u13’s were able to participate in.
This workshop coincided with Community Coaching Certificate Courses that saw a total of 28 coaches attend from all four regional member zones, receiving Game Training, Senior, and Goalkeeping Coaching Accreditation. Coaches travelled from as far as Inverell, Armidale, Lennox Head, Kempsey, Maclean and Newcastle.
FFA National Community Coach Development Manager, Les Bee, was in attendance to deliver a Coach Developer Workshop to further support community coaches.
Also on offer was a referee assessor and instructors course that was facilitated by Football Far North Coast’s Match Official Coordinator, Luke Mackney. This saw 10 community referees receive assessor and instructor accreditation.
Research shows that the number one influence on a player’s enjoyment of the game is their coach, and Northern NSW Football’s Community Coach Education team makes a continual effort to support community coaches.
Northern NSW Football delivered 75 Community Coaching Certificate Courses across Northern NSW in 2016 with 1,031 community coaches receiving coaching qualification.
Northern NSW Football would like to thank Community Football Partner, Newcastle Permanent, for their continued support and contribution Community Football in facilitating for events such as these.
Coaches are encouraged to visit Coach Headquarters via the Northern NSW Football website, which features hundreds of coaching resources that have been added to further support community coaches.
