Team: Wallsend Devils
Number: 6
Position: Right fullback

Ash began playing the beautiful game at the age of 6 for her local club, the Edgeworth Eagles.

In between her years at Edgeworth until her appearance with the Herald Women’s Premier League, Ash played for local clubs including, Argenton, West Wallsend and Lakes United.

Ash’s first taste of the WPL was when she was 15 years of age, at the competition’s inception in 2009. Ash was still playing for Edgeworth at this time, and recalls that even though it was the only season that Edgeworth was in the competition, the team made it all the way to the grand final where they played Adamstown, beating the Rosebuds 1 – 0 and taking the major premiership.

Ash says this remains one of her career highlights. This highlight comes close in toe with making the grand final last year with her current club, Wallsend Devils. Ash says “[we] didn’t come away with the result, but it will be something I’ll remember forever”.

Ash says her “favourite player would be Kally Lewis from the Devils”. Last year, Ash and Kally were team rivals making it all the way to the grand final, where Kally’s team, Warners Bay won over the Wallsend Devils. At the beginning of this season, Kally signed with the Devils. “Playing alongside Kally for the first year has been great fun, she keeps the game interesting and the refs on their toes!”

An opposition player that Ash admires is Cassidy Davis of Warners Bay. Ash says, “her passion for the game is out of this world”. Ash continued, “she plays with her heart on her sleeve and is good competition; a strong player on the field and a great person off the field”.

Ash works as a shopfitter where she installs aluminium windows and doors on-site. Ash says it’s all about making memories with her mates and spending quality time with her girlfriend and their new puppy they have together.
