CHITCHAT:

Toria kicked off her football career at the age of 6 with Belmont Football Club. It was after watching her sister Tamara play that Toria decided she was keen to follow in her big sister’s footsteps and joined up.

Minus a year hiatus with Macquarie Soccer Academy during under 12s, Toria continued to play with Belmont FC until 2013 where she played her first season of the Herald Women’s Premier League (WPL) for Valentine FC’s under 16s. Toria played with Valentine FC until joining Warners Bay in 2016.

At 16, Toria began filling in for Valentine’s first-grade team. Since then Toria has been a consistent and reliable key player within the competition, ranking over 70 first grade games at just the age of 19.

So far Toria has two big career highlights; one personal and one team related. Her personal highlight would be winning Player of the Year for her season with Valentine FC in 2015, and her team highlight “of course [was] winning the Grand Final with Warners Bay last year”.

Toria is determined to build on her gameplay, and at the end of her 2016 Herald WPL season with Warners Bay, Toria trialled for the Westfield W-League Newcastle Jets Women and trained with Craig Deans’ squad for a month. Toria said that her time training with the Jets Women was a great experience and an awesome opportunity for her to improve her skills.

In regard to goals for this year, Toria is focused on helping her team make it back to the Grand Final. She said she wishes “to improve my football and help my team make back-to-back grand finals, especially for Sophie Stapleford”.

PLAYERS’ PLAYER:

Toria’s fellow teammate, Nadja Squires gets Toria’s players’ player! Toria says that Nadja is an amazing player, “she is very talented and a player that I definitely look up to”. Toria continued to commend Nadja’s attitude and read of play to say that Nadja “always has a good attitude and reads the game as good as anyone”.

OFF THE FIELD:

Toria completed her HSC last year and is curious to follow a path in the animal welfare industry, in the meantime, she has taken a gap year where she is working in retail and saving her money. When away from her WPL responsibilities, Toria will be found at the beach and going for a surf. She also loves to watch movies and catch up with her friends.
