Emerging Jets off to a good start at FNSW SAP State Titles

October 4th, 2018

This week, Football NSW’s (FNSW) Skills Acquisition Program (SAP) State titles have been taking place featuring Northern NSW Football’s Emerging Jets 12 Years Girls who were invited to compete at Valentine Sports Park, Sydney.

The FNSW SAP State Titles comprises of the best 12 Years male and female players from the whole of the state of NSW who have been selected to compete for their regional representative squads.

The Emerging Jets 12 Girls have had an extremely successful start to the competition and still remain undefeated after their first six games including having scored 31 goals.

NNSWF Technical Advisor Leo Bertos who is with the team says the week provides a great opportunity to gauge how our players are performing both individually and collectively against some of the best SAP players and teams in the country.

“The week enables us to see how effective our program has been for the Emerging Jets players and what we may need to implement to improve the program for the players and coaches moving forward,” Bertos continued.

“The girls have been performing very well so far this week under the guidance of one of the Emerging Jets female SAP coaches, Bronte Walters. Bronte has been impressed with the player’s attitude so far this week and would like to see the players maintain their desire to play at a high tempo for the last two days of the competition.

“All players have been performing reasonably well however, Claire Adams, who’s been playing as an attacker and has scored 11 goals so far, has been a standout as has Sara Knowles also who’s playing in defence and has been showing an excellent ability to read the game, break up opposition play often starting the attack.”
