From Football Far North Coast:
Football was impeded by adverse weather this past weekend and unfortunately it also prevented the planned activities to raise funds for the 2015 Red Shield Appeal.
Despite the annual Salvation Army fundraiser being held several weeks earlier, FFNC wanted to get involved and had arranged to run several activities at Lismore Richmond Rovers on Saturday morning. That is, before the rain came and washed away our plans.
FFNC had intended to commit an initial $500 to “kick off” an expected significantly higher amount that would have been raised through a raffle and Salvo’s collection at the ground. We have however put a smile on the face of the local Salvation Army representative by offering a cheque of $850 to allow them to reach their target of $26,000 for the Lismore region.
President of Lismore Richmond Rovers FC, Vicki Bugden, was invited to make the presentation to engage the member clubs as part of our gesture and a cheque was accepted with gratitude by Major Lindsay Reeves. Football Far North Coast General Manager, Steve Mackney and Major Reeves have already discussed a strategy to support the Red Shield Appeal going forward in recognition of a desire to leverage football participation with key local charities.
