In just their first year as a club, Iona Football Club are holding their first ever club Gala Day on Sunday 5th August, at their home ground, St Columba School Oval.
As it’s their first event, registrations only opened for club teams and players, however 22 teams will be participating including almost 200 ALDI MiniRoos players, from Iona FC.
All teams will play four or five games in a round robin format, and competitions and prizes will be conducted and given away throughout the day, including fun activations coordinated by the ALDI MiniRoos team and Northern NSW Football Community Football Partner Newcastle Permanent.
Iona FC Football Coordinator Tony Judge said it’s a momentous occasion for the first-year club.
“It has been hard work to get the club up and running, but when you see all the smiling faces on a Saturday morning, you know it is all worth it,” Judge said.
“We are lucky to have people that are passionate about football that can create a fun and inclusive environment in the hope that we can make football a life long activity for our members.
“We have been overwhelmed by the support of our members and are very proud of what we have achieved together,” he concluded.
