Reigning premiers New Lambton FC will host Wallsend FC in the opening round of the 2022 HIT106.9 Northern League One competition.
Northern NSW Football’s second tier men’s competition will see New Lambton, who were awarded the 2021 HIT106.9 Northern League One premiership having been top of the table when COVID-19 restrictions saw the remainder of the competition cancelled, welcome the Red Devils to Alder Park on Saturday 2 April.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Thornton FC host Singleton Strikers at Thornton Park, Belmont Swansea United meet South Cardiff FC and Cessnock City face Toronto Awaba FC.
On Sunday 3 April, Kahibah FC take on West Wallsend SFC.
Northern NSW Football General Manager Football Operation Liam Bentley said the 2022 campaign promised to be an intriguing one in the HIT106.9 Northern League One competition.
“Obviously the way the 2021 season ended was disappointing. But we’re excited for 2022,” Bentley said.
“New Lambton have been an extremely strong club at this level for a number of seasons now. But Thornton were the big improvers last season and 2020 champions Singleton were up there again. It’s an exceptionally open competition.
“There are some outstanding matches in the opening round. We can’t wait for kick-off and we wish the 10 teams all the best for 2022.”
NNSWF Premier Competitions will also contain a number of feature rounds in 2022 including Respect Round (18-19 June) and Heritage Round (6-7 August) as well as the commemoration of ANZAC Day (23-25 April) and celebration of Female Football Week (6-15 May) and NAIDOC Week (4-10 July).
