Football FIVE5 Premier Youth Leagues to commence this off-season!

June 24th, 2019

Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) has announced a Football FIVE5 Premier Youth League will be held over the Summer.

Exclusive to youth players participating in Premier Competitions – National Premier Leagues Northern NSW (NPL NNSW), Herald Women’s Premier League (WPL) and NEWFM Northern League One (NL1) the leagues will be held Friday evenings at the Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility at the conclusion of the current season.

The first of its kind in the region, the initiative is consistent with NNSWF’s goal of significantly increasing the technical standard of players engaged in the local talented player pathway, with its Technical Director identifying the following technical benefits;

> Football Five5 is conducive to players having more touches on the ball and therefore more opportunity to develop technique;

> Football Five5 is a demanding game environment requiring players to make quicker decisions and respond with quicker actions;

> The format provides opportunities for players to work on improving their ability to execute combination play and individual skill to create scoring opportunities; and

> A further opportunity to identify players for programs including Talent Support Program (TSP)

The cost of participation will be covered by the additional Active Kids Voucher, which was announced in conjunction with the State Budget and can be accessed by parents from 1 July. Friday evening’s have been selected to avoid clashes with post season trials for next season and when clubs commence training in November.

The Leagues will commence on Friday 20 September and conclude on Friday 13 December including a two-week break throughout the school holidays.

The Format

  • Number of fixtures: 11 – (10 plus Play-Off Round)
