Start Playing Australia’s Largest, Most Popular Team Sport…

Australian Sports Commission (ASC) data released in December 2016 by Football Federation Australia (FFA) has put football as number one in club based participation sport.

Football’s success is attributable to Its attractiveness to all ages and abilities for men, women, boys and girls, with huge growth in the number of females participating.

Football is Australia’s most popular club-based participation sport for adults and children because it is the most inclusive and accessible with over 230 clubs across Northern NSW. Everyone is welcome in football regardless of gender, age, ability or background.

Netball No Obstruction To Football’s Appeal For Females

In 2015, Roy Morgan Research released positive news regarding women’s football that showed with continued growth, football had overtaken netball as the most popular sport for girls.

The research showed that football had overtaken swimming as the most popular sporting activity among Australian kids, with one in two children aged 6-13 now playing.

Furthermore, the latest findings from the Roy Morgan Research Young Australians Survey reveal that, for the first time, more girls are now playing football than netball.

While more Aussie kids are also taking part in athletics, cricket, netball and Australian Rules football than they were 12 months ago, the increases for these sports are negligible when compared with the boom in football participation.
