It’s raining goals in Moorland

September 5th, 2017

Students braved the rain to take part in the annual Moorland Soccer Club school gala day recently. Nearly 200 children from Kindy to Year 6 from local schools put down their pens and paper for the day and took their learning outside to play lots of football.

The Moorland SC school gala day is in its 4th year and has seen the event grow from 70 children in 2014 to almost 200 children in 2017.

The day provides local school children with the opportunity to play lots of football and have fun outside of the classroom. The club also use the day to recruit players for their ALDI MiniRoos teams for the upcoming season.

Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) ALDI MiniRoos Football Development Officer Tom Oldaker and Football Mid North Coast (FMNC) Technical Director Larry Bugden attended the gala day taking along the ALDI MiniRoos inflatable shooting target and providing free fruit and sunscreen for the students, along with prize giveaways courtesy of NNSWF Official Partner in Community Football, Newcastle Permanent.

“The school gala day is a great initiative by Moorland SC as it provides a genuine pathway to ALDI MiniRoos club football,” Oldaker said.

“A lot of the children do not play club football so this was a great opportunity for them to play in a team environment with their friends” Oldaker concluded.

NNSWF would like to thank Linda McMahon and Moorland SC for the initiative shown and providing all involved with the opportunity to play football.
