Jersey Win Icing On The Cake For Socceroos Fan

July 31st, 2015

Garden Suburb Soccer Club Over 35’s player David Bollinger had only one thing on his mind when he registered to play for Season 2015, and that was pulling on his boots and playing football with a few mates.

He had no idea that by registering he automatically went into the draw for the chance to win a framed Socceroos jersey, marking the sides historic win in the 2015 AFC Asian Cup Australia.

David was one of four (4) players from the thousands across Northern NSW to be randomly selected to win one of the prestigious pieces of football memorabilia.

David was last night presented with his jersey at the new Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility at Speers Point by Macquarie Football General Manager Warren Reid and Newcastle Permanent Warners Bay Branch Manager Jo Thode.

The win for David topped off an amazing 2015 AFC Asian Cup Australia experience that included attending the Socceroos historic  2-1 win against South Korea in the final in Sydney.

‘It’s big!’ a surprised David Bollinger said on first seeing his prize. ‘I was thinking of putting it in the ‘man cave’ initially but now having seen it, I think I’m going to see if I can put it in the living room. That’s a discussion I’ll have with my wife as soon as I get home.’
