Northern NSW Football is pleased to announce Jesmond Football Club (FC), from Newcastle Football, as the Newcastle Permanent Club of the Month Winner for March 2017.
Jesmond FC was awarded as the winner of the Newcastle Permanent Club of the Month Award due to its significant contribution to the local community through raising money for young disadvantaged refugee children to play football. With raising enough money through Jesmond Lions Club sponsoring children and general fundraising, the club was able to register 23 children to play football this season.
“Jesmond FC has made a significant and valuable contribution to the local community through its successful implementation of fundraising for players making the game more accessible for everyone to get involved,” NNSWF Community Football Manager Peter Haynes commented.
“We applaud the efforts of Jesmond FC Committee, coaches and players which demonstrate that community is integral to the club’s ethos,” Haynes concluded.
Newcastle Permanent Chief Executive Officer, Terry Millett, echoed Haynes’ sentiments and is pleased a local Newcastle club has been rewarded for its efforts.
“Newcastle Permanent is committed to supporting great community initiatives and the Club of the Month Award gives us the opportunity to reward clubs for the excellent work they do in their local area, both on and off the field,” Millett said.
Jesmond FC will receive a $250 First Touch Football Supplies gift voucher thanks to Newcastle Permanent that will allow the club to purchase new equipment to continue its efforts in growing the game in the Region.
The Newcastle Permanent Club of the Month Award recognises clubs for their contribution to football on and off the playing field across areas including football experience, club activities, coach, volunteer management and special projects.
