Newcastle Jets Women travel to Melbourne this weekend to take on the Victory on Saturday afternoon at 3pm in the third round of the Westfield W-League season.

It is their second match of the 2015/2016 season, following a Round 1 bye and a Round 2 0-0 draw against the Glory in Perth last weekend.

They are currently in sixth place following that draw, and will be aware that they can break into the Top Four with a win in Melbourne.

Fresh faces Megan Oyster, Caprice Dydasco, Chloe Logarzo, Jenna Kingsley, and Hannah Bromley all looked comfortable in their first match last weekend and all felt they should have picked up all three points against Perth.

Returning captain Gema Simon, who spent last season with Victory, got through ninety minutes in a positive return to the club and suggested that the Jets are in high spirits heading into their match against her former teammates this weekend.

The Jets came up against Melbourne Victory twice last year, defeating them 1-0 in the opening round thanks to a Angela Salem’s forty-seventh minute strike and then were punished 4-0 in Round 11, which dashed their hopes of making the finals.

Like the Jets, Victory are also searching for their first win this weekend and will be extremely hungry after 2-1 defeats against Perth Glory and Melbourne City in Rounds 1 and 2 respectively.

The Jets will be boosted by the return of their star player, Tara Andrews, who was last season’s joint-leading goal scorer alongside Rhali Dobson after missing last weekend’s match due to Matildas duties.

Georgia Yeoman-Dale who was also a part of the Matilda’s squad returns as well to give the Jets a full roster to choose from.

The Jets won five matches last season and finished fifth, just one point outside the Top Four. This year they will be desperate to go one better and finish in a finals spot.

Coach Craig Deans and his side will head to Melbourne this Saturday with one vision in mind, which is to bring home all three points.
