Over 200 of Northern NSW’s finest female footballers will come together in Coffs Harbour this weekend for the annual 12 Years and 14 Years Telstra State Championships for Girls.

Sides from across Northern NSW including Member Zones; Football Far North Coast, Football Mid North Coast Hunter Valley Football, Macquarie Football, Newcastle Football, North Coast Football and Northern Inland Football; as well as Emerging Jets sides.

The Championships take place from Saturday 19th to Monday 21st September at C.ex International Stadium Coffs Harbour and is one of several major tournaments conducted by NNSWF at the stadium in 2015.

“Northern NSW Football is pleased to host the Telstra State Championships for Girls which will showcase the best young female footballers from around Northern NSW who are fortunate to be competing at such a fine facility in Coffs Harbour,” said NNSWF Chief Executive Officer, David Eland.

“The weekend will provide the Region’s talented female footballers the opportunity to test themselves against fellow Northern NSW players.”

“The Championships are a critical tool used to gauge talent from within our Member Zones and provide a valuable opportunity for our Technical Panel to identify talented young players who possess the ability to progress to the next level in their playing career,” Mr Eland concluded.

The first match commences at 8.30am on Saturday with the 12 Years Girls on Field 1. The following matches will kick-off at 9.25am with both 12 Years and 14 Years matches played simultaneously on two separate fields – Field 1 hosting 12 Years Girls and Field 2 hosting 14 Years Girls.

The presentation of Medallions and Trophies will take place at 2pm on Monday.

About Telstra High Performance Partnership:

The announcement of Telstra as the Major Sponsor of High Performance Programs across Northern NSW was made in January.

Telstra’s support will see over $300K invested in High Performance Programs across Northern NSW over the next 3 years including Member Zone Skill Acquisition Programs (SAP) and Game Training Programs (GTP), as well as Northern NSW State Championships and has allowed NNSWF to lower the cost of Member Zone participation in Telstra SAP and rescind State Championship nomination fees.

Telstra SAP activity includes over 650 participants across seven Member Zones made up of identified boys and girls aged from 9 to 12 years.

Telstra GTP takes place in three Regional Zones and includes over 60 players aged from 12 to 14 years.
