Mayfield United JSFC ALDI MiniRoos Kick-Off 3 & 4 year old Pilot Program come to a SUPER end

August 1st, 2017

Saturday 29th July saw the final session of the ALDI MiniRoos Kick-Off 3 & 4 year old pilot program at Mayfield United JSFC.

With the theme for final week being superheroes ALDI MiniRoos Development Officer, Tom Oldaker was there to lend a SUPER hand…with cape and all.

The program has been a massive success with 17 children register for the 12 week program.

The program is designed to provide our 3 & 4 year old children with the opportunity to play football. The program creates a genuine pathway to junior club football. The success of this was seen within the first few weeks of the Mayfield program as one of the older children within the program enjoyed themselves that much that they went on to play for an under 6 team in the winter football competition.

The program used animation and storytelling to bring simple games to life. Every game was animated and designed to maximise touches of the ball to increase player engagement.

“We took the simple format of children dribbling a ball across a square and animated it so the game involved the children pretending to be pirates who had to dribble their treasure across the pirate ship,” Oldaker said

For the final week of the program the children got into the spirit of things by dressing up as their favourite superhero “watching all the children dressed as superheroes dribbling a ball while pretending it was their super power was great to see and it showed how successful the program was as all the children were able to have fun while playing football” Oldaker said.

With the ALDI MiniRoos post season Kick-Off programs due to begin in October anyone interested in running a 3 & 4 year old program is encouraged to contact Tom Oldaker miniroos@northernnswfootball.com.au for further details.
