New Lambton the focus of FFA Female ALDI MiniRoos Participation Case Study

June 29th, 2017

Northern NSW Football’s Female Participation Officer, Nyssa Suchanow, was at New Lambton on the weekend to showcase the club’s female participation success to Football Federation Australia (FFA) representatives.

Nyssa joined FFA representatives as they filmed a typical Saturday morning at the club, whose female numbers continue to grow, with New Lambton to feature in the case study into female ALDI MiniRoos participation in Northern NSW.

New Lambton is the largest female participation club in Newcastle and has experienced the largest female ALDI Miniroos growth since the girls only concept was introduced.

‘New Lambton is a real success story in relation to female participation and growth,’ Nyssa said. ‘The club has a welcoming environment for female players and in particular young players being introduced to the game for the first time.’

‘Having such a large female player base means that new girls feel welcome and comfortable in an environment where female participation is encouraged and we congratulate New Lambton on their efforts in this area,’ Nyssa said.

‘The visit was all about acquiring video vision to support the FFA’s case study into female ALDI MiniRoos participation in the Region and the growth that is occurring.’

Football Federation Australia’s Women’s Project Officer Madeline Latham, was also in attendance during the day and was impressed with Lambton’s commitment to promoting female participation.

‘New Lambton is creating an excellent environment for female participation which is why we accepted Nyssa’s invitation to come here and feature the club as part of our case study research.’

‘It is this kind of inclusive environment that we are endeavouring to foster in other clubs and we hope that when clubs see the successes being celebrated here in female growth that they will follow New Lambton’s lead and implement similar initiatives to develop equally attractive opportunities for female players.’

If your club has a positive story to tell in relation to female player growth or participation, please contact Nyssa by sending an email to
