Northern NSW Football Community Football Manager Peter Haynes is pleased to announce the June Newcastle Permanent Volunteer of the Month Award recipients from across each of its seven Member Zones.

“Volunteers are the backbone of our game and at the heart of football’s success across Northern NSW,” Haynes said.

“Each of the June winners have shown true dedication to their clubs and the Newcastle Permanent Volunteer of the Month Award is well deserved in all cases,” concluded Haynes.

Each winner will receive a certificate recognising their achievement, volunteer jacket and bag courtesy of Newcastle Permanent to assist in continuing to fulfil their valuable roles at their respective clubs.

“Newcastle Permanent’s Community Football partnership provides opportunities to recognise volunteers who give back so much to their clubs and communities. It is great to see such dedicated local volunteers being recognised for their ongoing commitment,” Newcastle Permanent Chief Executive Officer Terry Millett said.

Matthew Wiltshire
Alstonville & District FC
Football Far North Coast

Nomination: Matthew Wiltshire is a dedicated, enthusiastic and resourceful member of Alstonville FC’s management committee. He is also a coach for our Grade 15 girls and a Grade 6 Mini Roos team. Matt holds a number of important positions which contribute to the organisation of Villa’s 65 teams and 680 players. He developed and maintains our website which is a vital communication tool for our members. He is also our Junior Competitive Vice President which involves grading teams from 12 to 16, appointing coaches, communicating with coaches and parents, organising coaching courses and has developed a Coaching Manual as a valuable resource for our coaches. Matt assists with organising Villa’s long running and very successful junior carnival and was the mastermind behind the introduction of the Oceania Cup tournament for girls and women. Matt was a member of our committee which attained both Level 1 and 2 FFA accreditation. Matt is a hard-working, quiet achiever and very valuable asset to Villa FC.

Congratulations Matthew from Newcastle Permanent and Northern NSW Football.

Kathie Bestwick
Greenpoint Rovers FC and Football Mid North Coast
Football Mid North Coast

Nomination: Kathie works tirelessly to ensure that the girls and coaches across all grades of Herald WPL receive the respect they deserve and are given every opportunity and wanting for nothing. She goes above and beyond her job description every week, preparing programs and teams lists days before the girls play and acting as manager for all four grades on the day. Not only does she do all this work for football mid north coast but she also helps out the local club green point rovers. Setting up hubs and nets for fields even though all her children no longer play for the club. She puts the needs of the local soccer community before her own and is a tireless crusader for equality across football for male and female players.

Congratulations Kathie from Newcastle Permanent and Northern NSW Football.

Claudia Alvarez-Whately
Lochinvar FC
Hunter Valley Football

Nomination: Claudia was the only standing member at the end of 2014 season and helped recruit, train and retain new committee members, coaches and managers. Claudia has fulfilled more than her nominated roles with a tiny committee and has been the major driver behind ensuring everything that needs completing is completed and on time. She tirelessly chased registrations to ensure we would fill teams in each age group, stopping short of picking random kids up off the street! The time, effort and passion for the club and sport is amazing and greatly appreciated by all members.

Congratulations Claudia from Newcastle Permanent and Northern NSW Football.

Lisa Kildey
West Wallsend JSC
Macquarie Football

Lisa is the mould that keeps West Wallsend Juniors together. She spends hours of her time every week to keep the club going and should be congratulated for her hard work and dedication to this historic club. She not only volunteers for the juniors but also put her hand up to help the senior club in a time of need.

Congratulations Lisa from Newcastle Permanent and Northern NSW Football.

Lesa King-Verbicaro
Mayfield United JSFC
Newcastle Football

Nomination: Lesa King-Verbicaro is our contact person. Lesa has us all mobile on speed dial. meetings, ground closures, training times, changes, uniform problems. Lesa is always there keeping us up to date before we even need to call. Lesa makes it easy for a busy parent to stay on top of weekend sport. Lesa is the ‘Gold’ standard of efficiency and I would like Lesa nominated and considered for volunteer of the month. Particularly as our area was so hard hit by the current storms, soccer was one thing we didn’t worry about because we always knew what was closed, safe and when to meet where. Thank you Lesa

Congratulations Lesa from Newcastle Permanent and Northern NSW Football.

Kevin Davey
Boambee FC
North Coast Football

Nomination: Kev is the heart and soul of our club. He knows everyone, he comes to everything and he helps out with anything. Kev coaches the under 6’s, marks and maintains our fields, sets up our fields every Saturday morning, is our duty officer for every game, supports and encourages all the teams, travels to watch away games when there is no home games on, knows who does what and who to ask to get something done, cooks a bbq and forever supports and encourages me as the president. Our team colours are maroon and white and I reckon Kev has maroon and white blood in his veins.

Football is his life and Boambee Football Club is the heart of this for him. We are forever indebted to Kev, his knowledge, his encouragement and his ability to make sure everything is okay.

Congratulations Kevin from Newcastle Permanent and Northern NSW Football.

Steve Marshall
Tamworth FC
Northern Inland Football

Nomination: Steve Marshall was the newly appointed Registrar for Tamworth FC. Steve had no previous experience with the myfootballclub online registration system but through his diligent research he has become very experienced with the system over the last 4-5 months.

Steve has been integral in the following:

1. Registrations days
2. Team allocations
3. Registration payments
4. Coach recruitment
5. Registration of coaches and volunteers

Steve has ensured that Tamworth FC continues to provide the best quality service in the Tamworth district.

Congratulations Steve from Newcastle Permanent and Northern NSW Football.
