Newcastle Permanent Volunteers of the Month Announced

May 27th, 2015

Northern NSW Football Community Football Manager Peter Haynes is pleased to announce the April Newcastle Permanent Volunteer of the Month Award recipients from across each of its seven Member Zones.

“Volunteers are the backbone of our game and at the heart of football’s success across Northern NSW,” Haynes said.

“Each of the April winners have shown true dedication to their clubs and the Newcastle Permanent Volunteer of the Month Award is well deserved in all cases,” concluded Haynes.

Each winner will receive a certificate recognising their achievement, volunteer jacket and bag courtesy of Newcastle Permanent to assist in continuing to fulfil their valuable roles at their respective clubs.

“Newcastle Permanent’s Community Football partnership provides opportunities to recognise volunteers who give back so much to their clubs and communities. It is great to see such dedicated local volunteers being recognised for their ongoing commitment,” Newcastle Permanent Chief Executive Officer Terry Millett said.

> If you would like to nominate a worthy volunteer from your club or zone, please complete the nomination form.

Mary Bugeja
Casino RSM Cobras FC
Football Far North Coast

Mary has been involved in the Casino RSM Cobras FC since 1997. She began as a junior player prior to that time in 1991, 92 and 93 and continues to be actively involved.

In Mary’s 18 year membership with the clubs has been a player, coach and committee member.

For all but one of the last 17 years, Mary has done ALL three!!

Mary is currently the Vice President, Junior and Senior Registrar and coach/player of the women’s division 4 team.

Always responsive, understanding and willing to drive better outcomes for the Casino football community, Mary Bugeja is a worthy Newcastle Permanent Volunteer of the Month recipient.

Congratulations Mary from Newcastle Permanent and Northern NSW Football.

Larissa Sultana
Macleay Valley Rangers FC
Football Mid North Coast

Larissa does an outstanding job trying to organise all the coaches and managers and getting the uniforms. She is amazing!

Congratulations Larissa from Newcastle Permanent and Northern NSW Football.

Michelle Sherring
Cessnock United FC
Hunter Valley Football

Michelle took over Registrar this year to lessen the burden of Secretary and she was put into the role without knowledge of the role and this has turned out to be the club’s biggest year yet, with eight registration days and many late registrations, the club has grown to 36 teams.

Trying to place each child where they and their parents are happy and chasing up all relevant paperwork is a task in itself.

Michelle is also my minute taker and helps with many other things in the club as well. This award would make her feel appreciated.

Congratulations Michelle from Newcastle Permanent and Northern NSW Football.

Terry Williams
Westlakes Wildcats FC
Macquarie Football

Terry is Club President and he works around the clock to get everything sorted from registrations and ground maintenance, to canteen/bbq co-ordination – the list goes on and on!!

He works like a Trojan and Westlakes Wildcats are very lucky to have him leading their great club.

Congratulations Terry from Newcastle Permanent and Northern NSW Football.

Angela Jordan
South Wallsend JSC
Newcastle Football

Angela is an amazing lady who volunteers so much time to her club. Her title as Club Secretary is not fitting as she goes above and beyond this role every day.

Everything Angela does for the club is of the highest standard and she makes sure each and every player, parent, sponsor and member is recognised and encouraged for their input. It’s only fitting she is recognised for hers.

Congratulations Angela from Newcastle Permanent and Northern NSW Football.

Lana Taylor
Corindi Red Rock SC
North Coast Football

Lana is new to the game but has immediately become the club’s Secretary and Treasurer.

This year Corindi entered 13 teams in all competitions, up from only five in 2014. The club’s registered juniors have literally doubled this year.

Lana also helps out in the canteen every week, purchases supplies for both the canteen and the club’s coaches. She is very busy person in a growing area.

Congratulations Lana from Newcastle Permanent and Northern NSW Football.

Cathy Shepherd
Manilla United FC
Northern Inland Football

The club was formed two years ago seven members. With registrations up from 70 from the club’s first year to 120 this year, Cathy has worked tirelessly as Treasurer making sure accounts are up to date and all registrations have been paid.

She has also spent a number of hours (up until midnight) organising players into teams as well as coaching the under 9s whilst working as a teacher at Manilla’s local school as well as bringing up four boys. She is the backbone of the club.

Congratulations Cathy from Newcastle Permanent and Northern NSW Football.
