NNSWF Congratulates Players & Officials

Northern NSW Football would like to congratulate Annalee Grove, Tessa Tamplin, Molly Arens and Lucy Kell who have been selected in the Under 17 Women’s National Team (Junior Matildas) that will travel to Vietnam to compete in the U-16 Women’s Championship Qualifiers on the 25thAugust to 3rd September 2016.

These girls are the latest in a number of Northern NSW players and officials that have been selected to represent Northern on the international stage.

Seven Northern NSW players including Hannah Bourke, Ashlee Brodigan, Annalee Grove, Brooke Miller, Sophie Nenadovic, Hannah Southwell and Clare Wheeler were selected in the Young Matildas (Under 20 Squad) who unfortunately missed in a final spot after going down 2-1 in the semi-final to Thailand in the AFF Women’s Championship in Myanmar. The side has been coached by Emerging Jets and Newcastle Jets Westfield W-League coach Craig Deans.

Three Northern NSW players were selected in the Australian Joeys team who won the AFF U-16 Final in Cambodia in July from a penalty shoot-out. Northern players included, Noah Paul James (who pulled off a vital save midway through the shootout to give Australia a 3-2 advantage) and former Emerging Jets players, Kaleb Cox and Luke Callen.

Two players and two officials were selected in the Australian Women’s Football team for the 2016 RIO Olympics that kicked off early this morning! Players included Novocastrian Emily van-Egmond and Newcastle Jets W-League star Chloe Logarzo. Officials included Gary van-Egmond, Australian Women’s Assistant Coach and Chris Bowling, Australian Matildas Video Analysis Expert.
