NNSWF Premier Competitions host Women in Football Round this Weekend

June 20th, 2019

This weekend, 22nd – 23rd June, Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) launches its annual Women in Football (WIF) Round across their three Premier Leagues on the first weekend of rebel Female Football Week.

National Premier League Northern NSW (NPL NNSW), Herald Women’s Premier League (WPL) and NEWFM Northern League One clubs will be promoting the valuable contribution women make to the game.

In addition to NPL NNSW matches, NNSWF will also be live streaming the highly anticipated Herald WPL Match of the Round Merewether FC versus New Lambton FC in conjunction with Bar TV.

NNSWF Football Operations Manager, Liam Bentley said the importance of the WIF round is to highlight the great work females undertake within our game.

“By highlighting and appreciating the contribution women make to our game, we further encourage retention and recruitment of females in both playing and non-playing roles such as coaches, volunteers and match officials,” said Bentley.

Premier Clubs across the region will undertake a variety of activities such as including female mascots from their junior clubs walking senior players onto the field, dressing the canteen in purple, providing morning/afternoon tea as well as club profiles of their female and male champions.
