Northern NSW Football to Host First FFA Level 1 – Goalkeeping Licence

January 20th, 2020

Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) is hosting the first ever FFA Level 1 – Goalkeeping Licence coaching course in March at the Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility, Speers Point.

The five-day course, which is being presented by Football Federation Australia’s own Head of Goalkeeping Tony Franken, is open to coaches 18 years of age and older, who have completed an FFA/AFC ‘C’ Licence Part 1.

NNSWF Head of Football Development Peter Haynes is thrilled to have the course available to coaches within the region.

“We are excited to be able to provide aspiring goalkeeping coaches with access to this course for the first time in our region as previously coaches wanting to obtain this licence had to travel long distances, making it more difficult to take the time from their busy schedules.

“The Level 1 licence It is ideal for those coaching or wanting to coach at advanced levels, as well as current youth and senior goal-keeping coaches, Technical Directors and coach coordinators.

“Quality coaching opportunities such as this are integral in the ongoing improvement of football within our region, for both players and coaches wanting to continue their careers,” said Haynes.

Northern NSW Football has been home to a number of quality goal-keeping coaches who have gone on to successful football careers both in Australia and overseas, including current Newcastle Jets Goalkeeping Coach and Assistant Coach Chris Bowling, who has also represented Australia on the coaching staff of the Westfield Matildas.
