Last Friday night’s The Jennings Medal 2019 awards night at NEX Newcastle saw the introduction of individual awards for the NEWFM Northern League One competition for the first time in league history, and it was veteran Rhys Tippett from Kahibah FC who received the Player of the Year mantle.
Tippett finished third on the Golden Boot tally with a total of 15 strikes to his name, and although his team fell short of a 2019 finals appearance, he proved to be the pivotal man in the team’s strong push against the top four sides.
In the other awards of the evening, Mick Stafford from Belmont-Swansea United was named the Coach of the Year after leading his team to back-to-back Grand Final wins in just his first year at the helm which undoubtedly also helped the club achieve the Club of the Year award.
South Cardiff’s Tom Jenkin won the Goalkeeper of the Year and the Fair Play award was given to Singleton Strikers.
