Round 2 Results of the 2016 Westfield FFA Cup

February 29th, 2016

Round 2 of the 2016 Westfield FFA Cup saw the 2015 ‘Round 32’ high-fliers Edgeworth Eagles FC and Broadmeadow Magic FC commence their 2016 campaigns with huge wins.

All of the PlayStation 4 National Premier League clubs entered the competition in this round of the Southern Pool and were victorious in their fixtures. However Valentine FC and Charlestown City Blues FC had narrow wins over Lake Macquarie City FC and Wallsend FC respectively.

A surprise of the weekend saw Beresfield United Senior SC cause an upset defeating New FM 1st Division side Kahibah FC 2 – 1.

Other New FM 1st Division clubs, including Singleton FC, West Wallsend SFC and Thornton Redbacks FC, all had wins and have progressed to the next round.

Zone League Club Dudley Redhead United SFC was another big winner defeating Medowie 7 – 0, whilst Jesmond caused an upset in a penalty shootout over Morisset FC.

Tamworth on the weekend presented two exciting encounters for the Round 2 Northern Pool in the Westfield FFA Cup.

Despite playing in the stifling heat, Norths United FC held onto a tight 1-0 win against Oxley Vale Attunga FC. It was an upset for Oxley Vale as they provided the most chances in the last 25 minutes however they couldn’t find the back of the net.

This year was the first run in the FFA Cup for club Tamworth FC. Whilst they tried very hard on the day they unfortunately couldn’t get a goal against South Armidale United FC and were defeated 2-0.

Round 1 Westfield FFA Cup fixtures also got under way on the North Coast over the weekend. Find a full list of these fixtures and results HERE.
