Lake Macquarie City Roosters FC’s prolific striker and captain Sam Walker, who also took out the Golden Boot for the NPL Northern NSW with 16 goals, was awarded the Graham Jennings Medal for 2018 as the league’s Player of the Year at The Jennings Medal held at Wests New Lambton last Friday night.
The event, which saw over 450 members of the local community football attend, highlighted the achievements and accomplishments of players, coaches, teams, officials and clubs throughout Northern NSW Football and also recognised the special and enormous contribution of one of the most influential footballers within the region, Graham Jennings.
Damian Zane from Edgeworth Eagles FC took out the NPL Northern NSW Coach of the Year award for the fourth year in a row, while Broadmeadow Magic’s Paul Bitz received the Bill Mahoney Goalkeeper of the Year award.
Adamstown Rosebud FC’s Finn Beasley received the NPL Northern NSW Rookie of the Year, Chris Hurley from Weston Bears FC won the first-ever BarTV Sports Goal of the Year and Lambton Jaffas FC were named Club of the Year.
