The Telstra Skill Acquisition Program (SAP) Gala Weekend held at the Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility was blessed with fine weather and quality football.
The two day event saw 50 teams from six of Northern NSW Football’s seven Member Zones participating in 112 fixtures across Saturday and Sunday. Over 370 goals were scored across the two day event.
Macquarie Referees were given the daunting task of providing match officials for the 11’s and 12’s fixtures across the weekend and thanks to Sean Sibald and Mitch Hickey who helped coordinate appointments across the event this process went smoothly.
The professional management of all teams by their respective Member Zone coaches and managers contributed greatly to the smooth operation of the event with all fixtures conducted in accordance with the strict timelines listed in the fixture draws.
And finally, congratulations to all participating teams from the Telstra Skill Acquisition Program on a great display of quality football.
‘The weekend went exceptionally well and it was a great opportunity for North Coast, Mid North Coast and Northern Inland players to play at the Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility against squads from local Zones here in the Newcastle Region,’ Northern NSW Football Technical Director Michael Browne said. ‘ All players and staff involved seemed to really enjoy the weekend and were happy with how the two days played out.’
Telstra High Performance Partnership
The announcement of Telstra as the Major Sponsor of High Performance Programs across Northern NSW was made in January.
Telstra’s support will see over $300K invested in High Performance Programs across Northern NSW over the next 3 years including Member Zone Skill Acquisition Programs (SAP) and Game Training Programs (GTP), as well as Northern NSW State Championships and has allowed NNSWF to lower the cost of Member Zone participation in Telstra SAP and rescind State Championship nomination fees.
