Emerging Jets all but Seal Both Divisions after Second Day Blitz, Plus a Flying Hawk Scores a Wonder Goal

Day Two

Sunday 20th September, 2015

The second day of the Telstra State Championships for Girls began with light rain, however by midday the skies began to clear for a perfect afternoon of football in Coffs Harbour.

The highlight of the day came from 12 Years Hunter Valley’s Mia Drake, whose superb lobbed volley from distance over the Emerging Jets keeper saw the Hawks draw with the first placed side, and in the process become the only team to take points from them.

Newcastle’s Clare Webber again starred, adding five goals throughout the day to take her competition tally to twelve, and the 14 Years Mid North Coast side landed a crushing 6-1 win over North Coast.

The Emerging Jets look set to win both the 12 Years and 14 Years divisions after remaining undefeated in both competitions, winning a combined nine from ten matches.

The 14 Years require just one point from their final match to secure the Championship, however will look to complete it in style with a win.

The 12 Years division will begin tomorrow with matches between Mid North Coast and Macquarie, then Hunter Valley and Far North Coast. The third match of the day is a blockbuster event as the Emerging Jets and Newcastle meet in a clash where the winner claims the Championship.
