Westfield FFA Cup 2016 Kicks Off This Weekend On the Far North Coast

February 10th, 2016

The Westfield FFA Cup 2016 kicks off this weekend when Football Far North Coast (FFNC) will again host the opening fixture on Friday evening 12th February.

Bangalow SC will meet Lennox Head FC in a clash that will see both clubs keen for a victory.

The Bangalow Bluedogs have recruited a number of players from Lennox Head FC, including the 2015 FFNC player of the year and Golden Boot, Byron Milne.

Former Bangalow SC junior Josh Wallen recently signed a professional contract with Queens Park Rangers and the club is looking to be a real force in the local FFNC competition in 2016.

The Lennox Sharks have lost the bulk of their premier squad, with some players going to Bangalow.

Despite winning the Summer Youth League competition and finishing fourth in premier division last season, the club has opted to participate in the Division One competition in 2016 as they rebuild with a group of young talented players.

Current Liverpool FC player Brad Smith is a former Lennox Head FC junior and still maintains contact with the Sharks Technical Director Troy Taylor and the coastal club is expected to rebound as a local football force in the next few years.

FFNC will host two other Westfield FFA Cup fixtures on Friday evening, with Lismore Thistles SC to play Mullumbimby Brunswick Valley FC and Ballina SC to meet Suffolk Park FC.
