Northern NSW Football and CALM Inc partner to deliver Mental Health Round

Northern NSW Football is pleased to announce its partnership with CALM Inc. to deliver Mental Health Round in 2023. The Mental Health Aware project aims to raise awareness, promote education and support mental health in the Northern NSW football community. 

Mental Health Round aims to improve mental health outcomes for football players and community members, support connections to local mental health agencies, and empower clubs. 

"We're thrilled to partner with CALM and deliver Mental Health Round in 2023. It's crucial that we raise awareness and promote education around mental health in the football community, and provide support to those who may need it," said Northern NSW Football CEO Pete Haynes. 

"We want to ensure that football is a safe and supportive environment for everyone involved. Through Mental Health Round and our partnership with CALM, we hope to create positive mental health outcomes for our players and community members."

ShedTalks 
 
A webinar on supporting positive mental health at your club will also be available, along with ShedTalks aimed at 12-25 years players where clubs have access to a mental health expert to discuss positive mental health (places limited).

Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Webinar

A Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Webinar will be available to all members of the football family at  6.30pm on Monday 5 June.

There will be a panel of mental health experts as well as other football family members discussing strategies to suicide prevention and positive mental health. 

Topics for discussion include:

  • How to navigate mental health in pressure situations
  • Dealing with pressures from the outside
  • Practical strategies to deal with mental health
  • Who can I go to
  • Q & A

SafeTalk 

 
SafeTALK Gatekeeper Training will also be provided to upskill coaches & volunteers of your club in suicide prevention strategies. (Face to Face workshop in the Hunter Region).

For those who cannot attend there will be access to START which allows all clubs/members no matter their location to complete suicide intervention training on the go, through a 90 minutes self-paced online course.
