Youth Referee Academy
NNSWF’s Youth Referee Academy is back and we’re fast-tracking the development of promising young match officials!
The Academy provides education and development opportunities to young referees across northern NSW. The core objectives are to improve officiating standards, grow match official retention rates and increase the number and quality of Northern NSW Football match officials officiating at the highest levels.
Participants within this academy will receive training and guidance from experienced referee coaches across a two-year mentorship, focusing on technical, professional, and a physical development.
A panel of referees from the Northern NSW Football member zones will be selected for the Academy. All graduates will join a vibrant and supportive network of people on the way to becoming elite match officials. After graduation, the top-performing match officials are eligible to transition to the Northern NSW Football State Referee Talent Pool and represent Northern NSW Football at FA National Youth Championships and other development tournaments.
Selection Criteria:
Applicants to be aged between 16 and 20-years-old with referee accreditation of a minimum Level 3 (theory) qualification and two years’ experience as a referee.
Applicants who do not strictly meet all of the criteria, but who show aptitude and determination as a referee, are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be an active referee who are currently registered with Football Australia.
-Age: 16 to 20 years old
-Referee Accreditation: Minimum qualification of Level 3 (theory)
-Referee Experience: Minimum of two years’ experience as a referee
-Availability: Must be available to attend the NNSWF State Referee Seminar in Newcastle (Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 February 2022), attend Academy workshops/training sessions and participate in monthly Zoom coaching sessions
-Commitment: Regular at home training or with the Academy group and two-year commitment (2022-23) to the Academy program
-Endorsement: Application must be supported by a local zone or branch referee coach or accredited referee assessor
