Female Football Week 2021

Date: Saturday 19 June 2021 – Sunday 27 June 2021

Female Football Week is a national initiative which gives the football community the chance to celebrate the immense growth of the women’s game and acknowledge existing players, coaches, referees and administrators in football.

In 2021 National Female Football Week coincided with International Women’s Day (8 March). Northern NSW Football Female Football Week is celebrated in season.

Saturday 19 June
Female Football Week: Level 4, Referee Course

If you have been thinking about becoming a referee but felt it was a overwhelming.
This Level 4 course is made up of only women and will provide participants with the education and training needed to become a referee. The day will consist of both theory modules as well as practical sessions on a pitch to enable you to begin officiating.

Sunday 20 June
All-Female Coaching Game Training Certificate

Designed for coaches of players aged 13-16 years who are looking to develop their knowledge of 11v11 football. Coaches will leave understanding of game moments, good coaching  behaviors, how to plan and conduct a session. How to effectively deliver clear messages to players.

Monday 21 June
Newcastle Permanent Coaching Masterclass

Join Football Australia’s Girls Youth Development Manager Debbie Fisher.

Debbie will discuss approaches to coaching female footballers with a view to provide opportunities to view and discuss coaching methodologies to tailor the experience of the athlete’s environment to ensure the maximisation of enjoyment and potential talent. The workshop will also look at evidence-based research which looks at the needs of the individual and dispel myths of coaching females. Drives and motivations, and the way in which these are fulfilled are, for the most part, different for men and women.

Come and Try Kick-On for Women (Singleton Heights)

Come and join us at Alroy Oval to try all things Kick-On! Kick-On for Women is an introductory football (soccer) program for women who want to get outside and discover the basics of football in a supportive and inclusive environment. The program is specifically designed for women who just want to get out, get active and have fun! This event is for all females aged 16+ that are wanting to try football for the first time or return to the game after some time off.

Club administrators are encouraged to come down and talk to our Kick-On for Women Project Officer who will explain what Kick-On for Women is, how it can be delivered in a club environment and how your club can become more inclusive and supportive of your community.

Come and Try Kick-On for Women FIVE5 (Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility)

Come and join us at the Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility to try our modified league for women, Kick-On for Women FIVE5! Kick-On for Women FIVE5 is an extension of the Kick-On for Women program in which we will play 4 x 10 minute quarters on the synthetic five-a-side fields. The league remains consistent with the Kick-On for Women philosophy of fun, inclusion and social connectedness through football. This event is for all females aged 16+ that are wanting to try football for the first time or return to the game after some time off.

Referee Masterclass – POSTPONED

Join world class referee Kate Jacewicz as she speaks about her referee journey, the obstacles, her achievements and what a good referee needs to succeed. Receive a unique insight into professional refereeing as Kate spends over an hour speaking and taking questions from the audience.

Networking Evening

Join us in celebrating the accomplishments and contributions of our women in football and our volunteers who have donated hours of service to growing and improving the women and girls game throughout northern NSW.

We will play host to Guest Speakers & award the 2021 NNSWF Female Football Week Award Winners & the 2021 NNSWF ‘C’ Licence Scholarship for Women recipients.

Light refreshments will be provided and we invite you to stay and watch the Herald Women’s Premier League Match of the Round between Warners Bay FC and Adamstown Rosebuds FC.

Sunday 27 June
National Premier League Match of the Round Match Official appointments – POSTPONED

FIFA referee Kate Jacewicz, accompanied by NNSWF local female match officials, will officiate the first grade National Premier League NNSW Match of the Round between Maitland FC and Newcastle Olympic FC. This is the first time in NNSWF history that a first grade NPL NNSW game will be officiated by an all-female crew.

Swansea Football Club will celebrate Female Football Week a little later than others in order to deliver an event for their whole female participation base. The event will feature a Crazy Hair Day and Share the Dignity Fundraiser. Come with your craziest hairstyle or, for a gold coin donation, create your own hairstyle with your team at the oval before or after your game. Swansea FC will collect items such as sanitary pads, incontinence pads, tampons, period proof underwear and menstrual cups for Share the Dignity for their August collection drive.

MiniRoos Gala Day for Girls

Byron Bay FC will host their 3rd annual MiniRoos Girls Gala Day, aiming to bring girls together to participate in football matches on smaller fields in a round robin format. The focus is entirely on enjoyment and participation as there will be no winners or scores recorded, with the only awards for participation or the fair play initiative. The Gala Day is for registered club teams and girls that want to have a fun day, played in a full female environment.

NIMBIN HEADERS SPORTS CLUB

Nimbin Headers will host a club barbecue to celebrate Female Football Week, which will include a bonfire, music, raffle and a Come and Try Session. All profits will go to Lismore Women’s Health and Resource Centre. This event is for everyone including players, supporters, community members and the public.

First 30 member clubs to register a Female Football Week club activity will receive a FFW Club Activation Pack and go into the draw to win a $150 First Touch Football Supplies Voucher for the Club!

Ideas and descriptions of activities/events

Skills Session

Hold a free skills session for girls aged 9 – 13 during Female Football Week.

The skills session to run in line with FFA’s National Curriculum Skill Acquisition Phase (SAP) and focus on developing fundamental football skills and improve the player’s overall confidence.

Club BBQ

A club BBQ that celebrates females within the club. Important to include all players, coaches, administrators, referees and supporters.

Come & Try Training Session

Host a fun training session to introduce existing and new female players to the club. Training session could include an introduction to skills and to play fun small-sided games, bring a friend and receive information on how to register. Ideal for all age groups.

Club Interviews

Clubs to interview females for rebel FFW and share articles, videos and photos through social media and web pages. Interviews/good news stories can be sent to Member Zones and NNSWF, to be shared on their social media and web pages. Clubs that register their rebel FFW activity will receive customisable promotional rebel FFW material to use.

Female Support Person Day

A fun club day or training session that could include small-sided games, a BBQ or a family day.

MiniRoos Gala Day

MiniRoos Gala Days brings young players together to participate in football matches on smaller fields in a round robin format. The FFW MiniRoos Gala Day can be for registered club teams and children interested in giving football a go.

FFW MiniRoos Gala Days will provide girls – who may or may not have played before – the opportunity to experience and be introduced to football in a fun environment. The focus is entirely on enjoyment and participation as there will be no winners or scores recorded, with the only awards for participation or the fair play initiative. Clubs may use a fair play initiative, where Coaches, Spectators and Players/Teams are scored on their fair play.
