2022 NNSWF Coach Conference a huge success

The return of the Northern NSW Football Coach Conference was a huge success with more than 100 coaches in attendance at the Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility on Sunday.

Having been cancelled during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the NNSWF Coach Conference returned with a bang with a viewing of the Socceroos’ World Cup round of 16 clash with Argentina over breakfast in the early hours.

Coaches from across northern NSW were in attendance representing community, premier and A-Leagues clubs as well as member zones.

The event was a chance for coaches to hear from industry leaders and experts on the state of coaching and walk away with coaching insights, tips, methods and processes for next season.

Coaches were also able to network with other advanced coaches, with participants eligible for 30 CPD points.

NNSWF Head of Football Development Peter Haynes was thrilled with how the conference was received.

“It was an informative day of lectures, workshops and practical sessions from high profile industry leaders and experts,” Haynes said.

“Attendees walked away with player-centric insights, tips and processes to implement in 2023.

“We’re delighted with the number of coaches that attended, their commitment, interest and enthusiasm and also the quality on display from our presenters. It was also a great chance for coaches to connect with other likeminded people.”

Two-time A-League premiership and championship-winning coach and Football Australia’s Chief Football Officer Ernie Merrick opened the conference, with Football NSW Technical Director Warren Grieve’s presentation particularly well received.

Return 2 Play Director of Sports Medicine and Counselling Dr O’Neil Maharaj and NNSWF Talented Player and Coach Development Manager Ryan Doidge also presented alongside Newcastle Jets A-League Women’s coach Ash Wilson, Newcastle Knights NRLW Wellbeing Manager Holly Fuda, Newcastle Jets Academy Technical Director Gary van Egmond and Newcastle Jets head goalkeeper coach Chris Bowling.
