There was plenty of success to go around on Saturday as Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility hosted the 2022 NPL NNSW Youth and Northern League One Youth grand finals.
The grand finals were assigned to LMRFF in early August which turned out to be a good decision given another week of heavy wet weather, with the synthetic surfaces allowing grand finals to go ahead.
NPL NNSW Youth Under-13s Grand Final
Lambton Jaffas 3-2 Maitland FC
In NPL NNSW Youth, Lambton Jaffas took out the under-13s grand final with a 3-2 victory over Maitland FC.
Lambton, who had finished runners-up to Broadmeadow in the league season, took the lead through Jesse Ndakaza after eight minutes.
Tom Cashion doubled Jaffas' advantage on 28 minutes only for Zachary Nupier to halve the deficit for Maitland a minute later.
Cashion reestablished Lambton's two-goal lead on 66 minutes but the Magpies refused to quit, with Samuel Collins again pulling Maitland to within one goal.
But the Magpies could not find an equaliser with Lambton holding on to secure the championship.
NPL NNSW Youth Under-14s Grand Final
Broadmeadow Magic 3-0 Mid Coast FC
Broadmeadow Magic secured the premiership-championship double with a comfortable 3-0 win over Mid Coast FC in the under-14s grand final.
Liam Campbell gave the premiers the lead after four minutes before Lucas Leyshon made it 2-0 in the 41st minute.
Saxon Pasovski's goal in the 54th minute confirmed the under-14s championship trophy would stay in Newcastle with Mid Coast heading home empty handed.
NPL NNSW Youth Under-15s Grand Final
Newcastle Olympic 3-1 Maitland FC
Newcastle Olympic also achieved a premiership-championship double as they downed Maitland FC 3-1 in the under-15s decider.
Beaumont Pryce put the premiers in front on 16 minutes only for Maitland to equalise eight minutes later through Kobe Groves.
The Magpies were well in the contest and sniffed an upset only for Nathan Williams and Stanley Manning-Lourey to score late goals to seal victory for Olympic.
NPL NNSW Youth Under-16s Grand Final
North Coast Football 3-2 Maitland FC
North Coast Football scored a win for the regional teams after they played out an exciting 3-2 extra-time victory over Maitland FC in the under-16s grand final.
Maitland were looking to secure a premiership-championship double and looked to be on their way when Hayden Lean gave the Magpies the lead after four minutes.
Paul Weissenborn made it 2-0 to Maitland on the half-hour mark, with the Magpies holding onto the advantage at half-time.
But North Coast refused to roll over and came out strongly in the second half, with Olly Angus-Brown halving the deficit on 54 minutes.
Angus-Brown then equalised for North Coast with his second goal with six minutes to play.
The teams could not be separated with the match heading to extra-time. And North Coast only needed one minute to hit the front, with Loki Marchant giving the visitors the lead for the first time.
The premiers searched desperately for an equaliser but were unable to find one as North Coast held on for a memorable victory.
Northern League One Under-13s Grand Final
Belmont Swansea United 2-6 NIAS FC
In Northern League One Youth, NIAS FC scored another win for the regional teams as they took out the under-13s grand final with a convincing 6-2 win over Belmont Swansea United.
It was an incredible start to the game with George Kuli putting Belswans in front in the opening minute, only for Darcy Watson to equalise for NIAS in the second minute.
Kuli put Belswans back in front in the fifth minute, only for Watson to again equalise in the eighth minute.
If four goals in the first eight minutes were not enough, NIAS then took the lead through Charli Manning on 10 minutes.
An own goal then helped the Northern Inland Academy of Sport side double their advantage after 18 minutes, with NIAS holding onto the lead until half-time.
Alexander Little and Malusi Macikama's second half goals confirmed the result for NIAS as they enjoyed the long trip home with smiles on their faces.
Northern League One Under-14s Grand Final
New Lambton FC 1-0 Belmont Swansea United
New Lambton FC took out the premiership-championship double as they scored a 1-0 win over Belmont Swansea United in the under-14s decider.
The Eagles finished three points above Belswans on the table having lost one match all season.
And Ashton Morrissey gave New Lambton the perfect start with a goal five minutes in.
It was a close game with both sides enjoying chances. But the premiers held on to secure their double success.
Northern League One Under-15s Grand Final
New Lambton FC 3-1 South Cardiff FC
It was a double-double for New Lambton as their under-15s team downed South Cardiff 3-1 in their grand final.
The Eagles were also hunting premiership-championship success in the under-15s competition having gone through the league season undefeated.
But South Cardiff were out to spoil the party and took the lead in the first minute through Dominick Lacconi.
The premiers composed themselves and equalised through Luke Fuller after 14 minutes.
Fuller gave the Eagles the lead shortly after half-time before completing his hat-trick and securing the result for New Lambton with his third in the 50th minute.
Northern League One Under-16s Grand Final
South Cardiff FC 2-1 Belmont Swansea United
South Cardiff also completed a premiership-championship double after they took out the under-16s decider with a 2-1 victory over Belmont Swansea United.
Hunter Hazell put the Gunners in front after 23 minutes before Phineas Shadwell doubled the advantage shortly after half-time.
South Cardiff looked to be cruising towards the title only for Sean Jackson to score late on for Belswans to set up a nervy finish.
But Southy held on to secure their double success.
