Football Australia’s 2025 National Futsal Championships has entered the pointy end following a thrilling day of action.
All teams entered into the final day of competition before the finals, with all to play for.
Northern NSW Football stood tall again, putting their mark on the tournament.
The under-13s girls were defeated 8-2 by Football NSW Lightning in their last game of the competition. Molly MacFarlane and Lylah Martyn each hit the back of the net.
NNSWF’s under-14s boys went down to Football Queensland 8-1, with a goal from Hudson McGarry.
The side then ended their tournament with a 10-1 defeat to Football West with a goal from Cian Harding.
The under-15s girls narrowly went down 3-1 against Football Victoria White, with Ruby Murray’s goal not enough to get the side the win. The side will progress through to the quarter-finals on Saturday.
The under-16s boys went down 7-4 to Football Victoria in a thrilling match. Jordan Brady, Harley McKinney, Mac Alcorn and Charlie Spokes all got their names on the scoreboard.
At the time of publishing (Friday 4:30pm) the under-16s boys were taking on South Australia with a win securing them a spot in the semi-finals.
NNSWF’s open women’s team kept the good times rolling to secure back-to-back wins after a 3-0 win over Capital Football. After a tight contest, the sides were locked up at 0-0 at half-time. But goals from Steph Morrison, Rory Ballard and Willow Neal got the team over the line.
At the time of publishing (Friday 4:30pm) the open women still had to face Football Queensland Maroon in their final pool match.
NNSWF Futsal Manager Damon Shaw was impressed with the mentality of all of the players after a challenging tournament.
“The journey has been positive experience so far for all players, with everyone having a great time and taking away a lot of key learnings,” Shaw said.
