2025 National Para Football Championships kick off in Melbourne

The 2025 National Para Football Championships will take place in Melbourne at the Home of the Matildas from Monday 8 to Friday 12 December.

The five-day tournament will showcase the best male and female para footballers from across the country as they compete for the title of champions. Teams from Northern NSW Football, Football NSW, Football Queensland, Football Victoria and Football West will take part.

Northern NSW Football return to the tournament after a successful inaugural campaign in 2024, finishing in fourth place.

NNSWF has placed a strong focus on para football in 2025, introducing a dedicated para football program and hosting three come-and-try days for para athletes. Several squad members for this year’s tournament were identified through the program, with nine NNSWF athletes to compete at the championships.

Teams will arrive at the Home of the Matildas on Monday for a training and recovery day before the group stage starts on Tuesday. Ten group-stage fixtures will see each team face every opponent once ahead of the finals.

NNSWF will kick off the tournament against Football Victoria before closing out the opening day with a clash against reigning champions Football NSW.

Every match will be available live and free on the Football Australia YouTube channel.

NNSWF Participation and Women’s Football Officer Serena Carter said she looked forward to showcasing the talent of northern NSW para athletes.

“It’s a privilege for Northern NSW Football to return to the National Para Football Championships and represent para athletes with pride,” Carter said.

“Northern NSW is full of talented para athletes and we are grateful to be able to play a part in their football career. We are eager to showcase our athletes on the national stage and show the other member federations what we’ve got.

“Good luck to our NNSWF squad and make this championship one to remember.”
