434 goals were scored across 66 thrilling matches as the race for finals qualification intensified across all age groups.

Day two of the tournament saw mixed results for Northern NSW Football but all nine teams showed large signs of improvement.

The under-14s boys bounced back from their loss on day one with a nail biting 2-1 win over Football South Australia.

NNSWF’s under-13s girls looked to repeat their day one victory but were defeated 8-0 by a tough Football NSW Thunder side. They returned for their second game of the day where they went down 7-2 to Football Queensland White.

The under-13s boys were unable to find their first win of tournament on day two, going down 10-0 to Football West.

NNSWF’s under-15s girls Black were determined to return to their winning ways but fell short in their match against Football NSW Lightning, as they went down 2-1.

The under-12s boys Red picked up their first point of the tournament in a hard fought 4-4 draw with Football NSW Country. Before they returned in the afternoon to face a tough Football Queensland White side, suffering a 10-0 loss.

While the under-12s boys Black fell short 5-1 to Football NSW Lightning.

NNSWF’s under-16s boys locked in their first win of the competition in a suspenseful 5-4 victory over Football Victoria.

The under-15s boys were determined to do improve on their day one results but went down 8-2 to a demanding Football Tasmania side.

NNSWF’s under-15s girls Red closed out day two of the competition with a commanding 8-0 victory over Football West. They now sit top of their table with Football Queensland trailing three points behind.

NNSWF Futsal Manager Damon Shaw said he was impressed by the improvement each team showed on day two.

“I am really happy with every team’s improvement. Football Australia’s Mitre National Futsal Championships are a huge learning opportunity for all the players in northern NSW and the players are completely embracing that and competing well,” Shaw said.

“Our sides secured a few good results in the boys competitions as the under-16s and under-14s picked up satisfying wins.

“The girls were able to build on positive starts and are getting one step closer to competing in finals.

“I look forward to seeing our teams take the court on day three and implement what they have learnt so far.”
