Conquest, Hughes honoured as NNSWF life members

Northern NSW Football is delighted to announce Kerry Conquest and John Hughes as its newest life members.

NNSWF held its Annual General Meeting in Coffs Harbour at the end of June, taking the event to a regional area for the first time.

Alongside the re-election of Mike Parsons and Lauren Edwards to the Board of Directors and the election of Stephen Sneddon, Conquest and Hughes were awarded life membership of NNSWF.

Conquest has been an integral part of the NNSWF community over a number of years serving as an administrator, coach and mentor.

Through her time at Adamstown Rosebud JFC Conquest coached the first under-14s girls’ team in the Women’s Premier League and later coached the under-14s and under-17s to multiple premierships.

Conquest holds multiple operational roles at Adamstown including treasurer, secretary, club coaching coordinator, football operations manager as well as NPL Women’s NNSW and Junior Development League lead.

She also holds a position on the NPLW Standing Committee with a strong advocacy for facility improvements. She has directly impacted the player experience and supported the retention and growth of participants through her consistent efforts to raise the standard of football environments and championing vital upgrades.

John Hughes has had a longstanding and meaningful presence in the NNSWF community, serving as a president, vice president, coach and referee.

He joined Gloucester SC as coach of the senior team in its inaugural year in 1975. Since then Hughes was president for 40 years and now serves as vice president.

Throughout his time at Gloucester he also served on the board of Manning District Football Association, now known as Football Mid North Coast, as vice president.

Hughes has overseen the club move three times over the years to their current home at Gloucester Soccer Complex and more recently the club’s lighting project. His love for the club goes further than being on the board as he also mows and maintains the grounds, preparing them every week throughout the season.

NNSWF Chairman Mike Parsons said he was delighted that Conquest and Hughes were awarded life membership.

“We are really pleased to have the opportunity to recognise individuals whose dedication and service has helped shape Northern NSW Football,” Parsons said.

“Life membership is a way for us to congratulate Kerry and John on the impact they’ve had on our football community and showcase their ongoing commitment to football.

“On behalf of Northern NSW Football, thank you to Kerry and John for all you have contributed to the football family.”
