Northern NSW Football is delighted to create more opportunities for women to advance their coaching careers through all-female coach education courses and scholarships.
Designed to address barriers that can limit women’s participation in coaching and create clearer pathways for women to remain in the game, a Foundation of Football course and a C Diploma course will be offered exclusively to women.
The courses will provide a supportive environment where participants can develop their knowledge and confidence alongside other women. The all-female learning environment will also help participants build connections with coaches who share similar experiences and ambitions.
To further support the development of female coaches, applications are now open for C Diploma scholarships. Participants will need to complete their Foundation of Football prior to undertaking the C Diploma course.
Funded through the Office of Sport’s Play Our Way funding, the scholarships will help reduce financial barriers and make coach education more accessible to women across northern NSW.
By supporting women through education and creating opportunities to connect, the all-female coaching courses will help build a stronger network of coaches across northern NSW.
Increasing the number of qualified female coaches will also lead to greater representation at club and representative level, providing more role models for girls and showing them that coaching can be a pathway for them within the game.
NNSWF General Manager Participation and Women’s Football Allana Neeve said creating a stronger future for women in coaching starts with providing the right opportunities and support.
"We want to see more women coaching across northern NSW and have more visible pathways for them to progress in the game," Neeve said.
"The all-female courses provide women with a supportive environment to build their knowledge and confidence alongside other women, while the scholarships help remove cost as a barrier.
"By creating these opportunities, NNSWF can increase the number of qualified female coaches, strengthen representation within the football community and give young girls the chance to see women in coaching roles and recognise that it's a pathway for them too."
