Braedyn Crowley and Adriana Konjarski were the big winners at the 2022 Jennings Medal on Friday night.
Football Australia Chair Chris Nikou was among the crowd of more than 400 people who made their way to Newcastle Exhibition and Convention Centre for Northern NSW Football’s night of nights, with another brilliant season on the pitch across NNSWF’s premier competitions to celebrate.
Crowley and Konjarski signed off their eerily similar seasons with the NPL Men’s NNSW and NPL Women’s NNSW Player of the Year awards respectively.
Both had earlier been presented their Golden Boot awards after the pair blew away the competition as highest goal scorers, with Crowley notching 27 and Konjarski 38 goals this season.
The pair were also named as strikers in the NPL Men’s NNSW and NPL Women’s NNSW Teams of the Year. But Crowley and Konjarski also enjoyed team success as well as the personal accolades.
They won NPL Men’s NNSW and NPL Women’s NNSW premierships with Maitland FC and Warners Bay FC respectively, with Konjarski’s Panthers going on to complete the premiership-championship double with their grand final victory over Newcastle Olympic.
While Crowley’s Magpies missed out on the championship when they fell to Lambton Jaffas in the grand final, there were still more honours for the 25-year-old. Crowley was also recognised by his peers as the Players’ Player of the Year and received the Media Player of the Year Award.
It was also a big night for the HIT106.9 Northern League One competition, with Belmont Swansea United’s Cameron Lodge named Player of the Year.
NNSWF CEO David Eland congratulated the winners and thanked everyone for an outstanding season.
“Braedyn and Adriana were extremely deserving winners of the Player of the Year awards,” Eland said.
“Braedyn dominated the NPL Men’s NNSW competition, with the evidence being him taking home almost every individual award. While Adriana did brilliantly to lead Warners Bay to success in our inaugural NPL Women’s NNSW competition, scoring an incredible number of goals and being almost unplayable at times.
“It was a big year for our premier competitions with an 11th team joining the NPL Men’s NNSW competition and our inaugural NPL Women’s NNSW competition being such a success. And Northern League One was an incredibly close and exciting competition this season as well.
“I’d like to thank all the volunteers across our premier clubs for making the season what it was this year. And congratulations to all the recipients of awards for their success.”
